Carl’s Jr. Restaurants LLC (doing business as Carl’s Jr.) is an American fast food restaurant chain with franchises in North and South America, Asian, Oceania, Europe and Africa. The chain’s signature menu items include the Western Bacon Cheeseburger, the Super Star hamburger, the Beyond Famous Star with Cheese, among other customer favorites. Founded in 1941 in Los Angeles, California, the brand has grown to over 1,100 restaurants in 15 western states, as well as locations internationally. In April 1997, CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Carl's Jr., paid $327 million to Montreal-based Imasco Limited for Hardee's.
