Chick-fil-A was first opened in 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia, under the name Dwarf Grill, by its founder Samuel Truett Cathy, a devout Southern Baptist, and many of the company’s values are influenced by the Christian religious beliefs of its late founder. As of December 2022, the company operated 2,338 franchised, 73 company-operated, and 395 licensed Chick-fil-A restaurants for a total of 2,806 locations. The chain has locations in 47 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, with plans for a future expansion into Hawaii. The company also has operations in Canada. Chick-fil-A Inc. reported record revenue for 2022 of $6.4B, an increase of 10.6 percent over the previous year’s number. It is a private company owned and operated by the two sons of S.
