Founded in 1991, the private company opened its first restaurant along the legendary Salt Grass Trail in Houston, TX, an historic trail used by Longhorn ranchers for driving cattle to the Texas Gulf Coast. In 2002, when the chain had grown to 27 locations, it was acquired by Landry’s Inc. for $75M. In 2023, Saltgrass now operates more than 90 locations in 14 states.
